I don’t want to set the world on fire和Dear hearts and gentle people。

Dear hearts and gentle people

I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down

They read the good book
From Fri till Monday
That’s how the weekend goes
I’ve got a dream house
I’ll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin’ rose

I feel so welcome each time I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin’ like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town

Dear hearts and gentle people被用在最长的辐射3预告里面,和预告开头的经典黑白Vault-tech广告两厢呼应,表达了对幸福宁静的生活的愿望。

I don’t want to set the world on fire

I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart
In my heart I have but one desire
And that one is you
No other will do

I’ve lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you feel the same
I’ll have reached the goal I’m dreaming of

I don’t want to set the world on fire写得相当简练精确。我特别喜欢的是这两组似乎是互相对应的歌词“set the world on fire-start a flame in your heart””worldly acclaim-be the one you love”。set the world on fire和worldly acclaim, start a flame in your heart和be the one you love分属两种相当普遍的两种动机/愿望。 Be the one you love或者be loved这种动机就不用解释了。

。。)所到之处常常掀起一阵腥风血雨(用set the world on fire形容相当形象),无论是以正义之名,还是受邪恶驱使,所以“I don’t want to set the world on fire”便成为了lone wanderer所作所为的最好借口。
